SMS Client Does Not Run a Dependant Program When You Disable the Program That Depends On It (829867)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003
SYMPTOMSSome Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) clients may not run a dependant program when you disable the program that depends on it.CAUSEThis problem may occur if the following conditions are true: - You advertise a program (program A) that depends on another program (program B) to run.
- Program B depends on another program (program C) to run.
- You disable program B.
In this case, program C runs on SMS 2003 Legacy Client-based computers. But none of the programs run on SMS Advanced Client-based computers. You expect that program A does not run because you disabled the program that it depends on. However, you might expect program C to run on SMS Advanced Client-based computers because program C does not depend on another program to run. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
