Advanced Clients Do Not Run Mandatory Advertisements and They Return Status Message 10052 (829858)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003
SYMPTOMS Some advertisements may not run on a Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 Advanced Client. The Advanced Client may reject the software policy as not valid, and then it returns the following status message 10052 to the SMS site:Description:
The program for the advertisement "advertisementID" ("packageID" - "program_name") could not be run because the policy contains an invalid combination of requirements: site_code.
Possible causes:
The program is set to run when no user is logged on, but is being advertised to a user. The program is set to require user input, but does not require that a user be logged on in order to run.
Solution:
Examine the properties of the program to resolve the conflicting requirements. CAUSEThis issue occurs if you select conflicting options when you create a package. For example, assume that in the program properties, you click Requires drive letter on the Environment tab. And then in the advertisement properties, you click Download package from distribution point and Download program from a remote distribution point on the Advanced Client tab. The conflict occurs because the package source is downloaded to the client computer, but the package installation requires a drive that is mapped to the installation source.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, clear either the Requires mapped drive or the Download package from distribution point option. After you change the package properties, you must readvertise the program to the Advanced Clients.MORE INFORMATIONAfter the conflict is resolved, the advertisement may not run as expected, even though the advertisement was scheduled as mandatory and was also scheduled to run immediately. If the advertisement previously ran successfully, the client will not rerun the advertisement. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
