Changes in Security Settings for Replicated Objects in a Child Site Are Not Saved (829857)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to modify the Class security rights or the Instance security rights settings for any replicated object in a child site, the modifications that you make in the Object Class Security Right Properties dialog box are not saved. Instead, the original settings are retained.

This issue occurs with replicated objects in one or more of the following child sites:

Advertisements
Packages
Collections
Software Metering Rules

CAUSE

This issue occurs if you try to modify the security settings for replicated objects in the child site. Modifications to the security settings for replicated objects must be applied at the parent site. Then, they can then be replicated to the child site.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

When you click Modify on the Security tab in the Properties dialog box of a replicated object, you can view only those settings that then appear in the Object Class Security Right Properties dialog box. And even though you can modify the settings in this dialog box, your changes are not saved.
