Command-Line Options Are Missing When You Open A Package By Using the SMS 2.0 Administrator Console (829816)



The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

After you create a package by using the Distribute Software Updates Wizard, when you view the package, command-line options that you specified do not appear.

CAUSE

This problem occurs in the following situation:
  • You create the package by using the Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 SMS Administrator Console.

    -and-
  • You open the package by using the SMS 2.0 Administrator Console.
In this situation, when you open the package by using the SMS 2.0 Administrator Console, command-line options that are not supported in SMS 2.0 are removed. As a result, when you then edit or open this package by using the SMS 2003 Administrator Console, new SMS 2003 command-line options are reset to their default values.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, set the command-line options to the values that you want by using the Distribute Software Updates Wizard in the SMS 2003 Administrator Console.

Microsoft recommends that you do not use the SMS 2.0 Administrator Console to open or to modify packages that you create by using SMS 2003.
