DVD Title Menu Stops Responding (829739)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004

SYMPTOMS

While you view the title menu of a DVD, if you press the Fast Forward button, the DVD menu may stop responding to commands from the Media Center remote.

This problem affects only the DVD title menu and not the Media Center program.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the author of the DVD set the Fast Forward function to turn on during the DVD title menu. Typically, this problem occurs with "homemade" DVDs. In these cases, the author of the DVD enables the fast forward function when he or she creates the DVD interface.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you must restart the DVD menu. To do so, use either of the following methods to restart DVD playback:
  • Press the green MCE button on the Media Center remote, and then use the arrow keys on the remote to select Play DVD.

    -or-
  • Press the DVD Menu button on the Media Center remote.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
