The order of Hebrew words in your organization chart is reversed, after you use the organization chart wizard template to import data from Excel in Visio 2003 (829620)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
- Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003
SYMPTOMS In Microsoft Office Visio 2003, when you use the
Organization Chart Wizard template to create an organization chart from data
that is stored in a Microsoft Excel workbook, you may find that the order of
Hebrew words in your organization chart are displayed in an incorrect order.
For example, the order of the first and last names of people in your
organization chart are reversed. That is, if first names of people are listed
before last names in the Excel workbook, the last names of people come before
first names in your organization chart.CAUSEThis problem may occur if both of the following conditions
are true:
- The Excel workbook that you use as your data source
contains a Hebrew list.
- The input language of your computer is set to
English.
Visio 2003 uses the input language to set the language ID. If
the language ID is set to English, the order of Hebrew words in the
organization chart that you create by using the Organization Chart Wizard is
reversed. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, set the input language of your
computer to Hebrew. To do so, follow these steps. Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the
following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your
product documentation to complete these steps.
- Click Start, and then click
Control Panel.
- Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional
Options, and then click Regional and Language
Options.
- Do one of the following, as appropriate to your situation:
- If the language files for complex script and
right-to-left languages are not installed on your computer, install them. To do
so, follow these steps:
- Click the Languages tab, and then
under Supplemental language support, click Install
files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including
Thai).
- When you are prompted to install the language
files, click OK, and then click
OK.
- If the language files for complex script and
right-to-left languages are already installed on your computer, go to step
4.
- Click the Languages tab, and then under
Text services and input languages, click
Details.
- Under Installed services, click
Add.
- In the Add Input language dialog box, in
the Input language box, click
Hebrew.
- Under Default input language, click
Hebrew, click OK, and then click
OK.
