FIX: Persistent Storage Manager (PSM) Hotfix for PSM 2.2 Service Pack 2 (829440)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Server Appliance Kit (SAK), version 2.01
- Persistent Storage Manager for Server Appliances
SYMPTOMSWhen
your system
is running Persistent Storage Manager (PSM) version
2.2,
you may receive a stop
code error on a blue
screen
if
snapshot deletion occurs
at the same time as free
space detection occurs.
Additionally, if
your system
is running PSM and Veritas
Netbackup
at
the same time, you may receive
a stop code error on a blue screen during a backup
task.

CAUSEWhen a volume that contains PSM snapshots starts
(either because you start the computer, or because you restore a volume
to the contents of a snapshot, or because of cluster failover), PSM scans the
volume to determine the location of all free space on the
volume.
Because of a logic flaw in the PSM driver, any snapshot that
is deleted during the scan for free space may cause a stop code error to appear on
a blue screen. RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from
