Note After you apply the update to WMSDE, a log file that is named
WMSDEHotfix.log is created in the root of the drive where the environment
variable, TMP, is set to. To determine the drive that the environment variable
TMP is set to, open a command prompt, and then type
set.
How to download and how to install the update
To obtain and to install the "Critical Update for SQL Server 2000
Desktop Engine (Windows) on Windows Server 2003 (KB829358)" update on the
server, use one of the following methods as appropriate to your situation.
Install the update from the Microsoft Windows Update Web site

listed in the
Critical Updates and Service Packs area. To
obtain the update, you must download it from the Windows Update Catalog Web

The following list describes different scenarios where the
update is listed and where the update is not listed in the
Critical
Updates and Service Packs area of the Windows Update Web site:
- The update is listed in the Critical Updates and
Service Packs area if any one of the following conditions is true:
- The language of WMSDE that is installed on the server
is the same as the language of Windows Server 2003.
- The language of WMSDE that is installed on the server
is English, for all languages of Windows Server 2003 where a corresponding
language of WMSDE does not exist.
- The update is not listed in the Critical Updates
and Service Packs area if any one of the following conditions is true:
- The language of WMSDE that is installed on the server
is different from the language of Windows Server 2003, for all languages of
Windows Server 2003 where a corresponding language of WMSDE exists.
- The language of WMSDE that is installed on the server
is not English, for all languages of Windows Server 2003 where a corresponding
language of WMSDE does not exist.
WMSDE is available in Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, English,
French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Swedish, Simplified Chinese
and Traditional Chinese.
Download the update from the Windows Update Catalog Web site
Use this method if you want to download the update and install it
later, or if the update is not listed in the
Critical Update for SQL
Server 2000 Desktop Engine (Windows) on Windows Server 2003 (KB829358)
area of the Windows Update Web site. When you use this method, you download the
update and save it to the location that you want. You can then install the
update when you want to.
