The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
  • Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you convert a Microsoft Office Visio 2003 drawing that contains a cropped CAD display object to AutoCAD Interchange format by saving the drawing as a .dxf file, the CAD display object is not cropped when you open the resulting .dxf file in Visio 2003.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because Visio 2003 does not write out cropped views of CAD display objects.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, convert the cropped CAD display objects that are contained in your Visio 2003 drawing to Visio format, and then save the drawing as a .dxf file. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Start Visio 2003, and then open your Visio 2003 drawing.
  2. Convert the cropped CAD display objects in your drawing to Visio format. To do so, follow these steps:
    1. Right-click each cropped CAD display object in your drawing, point to CAD Drawing Object, and then click Convert.
    2. In the Convert CAD Object dialog box, specify the layers that you want to convert, and then click OK.
  3. Save the drawing as a .dxf file. To do so, follow these steps:
    1. On the File menu, click Save As.
    2. Specify a file name and a location where you want to save the file.
    3. In the Save as type box, click AutoCAD Interchange (*.dxf), and then click Save.
