Only one CAD display object is displayed in your drawing after you save your drawing as a .dxf file in Visio 2003 (829231)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
- Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003
SYMPTOMSWhen you convert a Microsoft Office Visio 2003 drawing that contains more than one CAD display object to AutoCAD Interchange format by saving the drawing as a .dxf file, only one CAD display object is displayed when you open the .dxf file in Visio. CAUSE This issue occurs because only one CAD display object in your drawing is converted and displayed after you convert the Visio drawing to AutoCAD Interchange format (.dxf file). Typically, the CAD display object that is converted and displayed after you save your drawing as a .dxf file is the first object that was inserted in your drawing. WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, convert each CAD display object that is contained in the Visio drawing to Visio format, and then save the drawing as a .dxf file. To do so: - Start Visio, and then open your Visio drawing.
- Convert the CAD display objects in your drawing to Visio format. To do so:
- Right-click each CAD display object in your drawing, point to CAD Drawing Object, and then click Convert.
- In the Convert CAD Object dialog box, specify the layers that you want to convert, and then click OK.
- Save the drawing as a .dxf file. To do so:
- On the File menu, click Save As.
- Specify a file name and location where you want to save the file.
- In the Save as type box, click AutoCAD Interchange (*.dxf), and then click Save.
