Duplicate Records Appear in a SharePoint List (829176)

SYMPTOMS

Duplicate records appear on a list that is maintained on your Microsoft Windows SharePoint Server. For example, if you have a list of people and their e-mail addresses, each name and address my appear two or three times in the list. This issue may occur when you make changes locally in a Microsoft Excel file.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do one of the following:
  • Synchronize the workbook, and then save your file. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. On the List toolbar, click Synchronize List .
    2. Save the file.
  • If you think that all the records are current on the SharePoint Web site, delete all changes in the Excel file, and then synchronize the workbook with the SharePoint list again.
