SUMMARY
This article describes how to restore a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services database from a backup copy to a server where the Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 CompanyWeb intranet site and Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (also known as MSDE 2000) have been reinstalled. For these steps to work, all the following prerequisites must be met: - The Microsoft Active Directory directory service domain database has not changed since the last time that a backup copy of the Windows SharePoint Services data files was created.
- The System State of the original server has been successfully restored from the backup copy.
- The Windows Small Business Server 2003 intranet component has been installed.
- The CompanyWeb intranet site (http://companyweb) is accessible.
- The following database files and log files are available for a successful restore:
- STS_Config.mdf
- STS_Config_log.ldf
- STS_ServerName_1.mdf
- STS_ServerName_1_log.ldf
Note In these file names, ServerName is a placeholder for the name of your server computer.

Note If you are reinstalling the Windows SharePoint Services CompanyWeb intranet site, you must use the updated CD3 disc that includes the software update that Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 832880 describes. Do not use the CD3 disc that was distributed with Windows Small Business Server 2003 before February 2004. If you use the CD3 disc that was distributed before February 2004, the intranet component will not successfully install. If the intranet component does not successfully install, permit Windows Small Business Server 2003 Setup to finish, and then reapply the KB 832880 software update to the server. The KB 832880 software update will complete the CompanyWeb intranet site installation correctly.
