Momentary "Program Blocked" Message When You Change Channels (829088)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004

SYMPTOMS

After you turn on Block unrated TV Programs in the Parental Control settings of Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004, the Program Blocked page may appear momentarily when you change channels. This behavior may occur even when the channel is set to the Maximum allowed rating to Mature Audience (MA) rating.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Parental Controls rating system has not received the rating for the new channel when you switch channels. As a result, the Program Blocked page appears until Media Center confirms the channel's rating.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, turn off the Block unrated TV programs feature:
  1. Start Media Center.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click TV/DVD.
  4. Click Parental Control.
  5. Enter your 4-digit code.
  6. Click TV Ratings.
  7. Click to clear the Block unrated TV programs check box.
  8. Click OK.
