SYMPTOMS

When you install a new Management Pack on a Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000-based server, the installation may not work, and you may receive an error message that is similar to the following error message:

This problem may occur if the MOM server's auditing feature is turned on.

WORKAROUND

To solve this problem, turn off the auditing feature in the MOM Administrator Console. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open the MOM Administrator Console.
  2. In the left pane, expand Configuration, and then click Global Settings.
  3. In the Details pane, right-click Auditing, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Auditing tab, click to clear the Audit Changes made through the DAS on MOMCLIENT check box, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
Microsoft recommends that you do not turn on the auditing feature in MOM because it may cause unexpected behavior during the Management Pack import.
