You receive a font cannot be loaded error message when you open a file that has many fonts in Publisher 2003 or in Publisher 2002 (828375)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a file that has many fonts in Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 or in Microsoft Publisher 2002, you receive the following error message:
The font font name cannot be loaded. Your publication may not look as it was intended to look.
The error message may be repeated several times. For example, when you click OK to close one error message, the error message reappears mentioning a different font. If the font that is listed in the error message is actually installed on your system, it appears correctly. For example, if the error message mentions Garamond MT, and Garamond MT is installed on your system, the text is still in Garamond MT.

RESOLUTION

The person who created the file can prevent this problem from occurring by sub setting the embedded fonts. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, point to Commercial Printing Tools, and then click Fonts.
  2. In the Font dialog box, click to select the Subset fonts when embedding check box.
  3. Click OK.
Note If you are opening a file that you received from someone else, and that person is not available, you can open the file without receiving the error message by not loading duplicate embedded fonts. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Close the publication (if it is open).
  2. Open the publication again.
  3. In the Load Fonts dialog box, do the following for every font that has a status of "Duplicate":
    1. Select the font.
    2. Click Don't Load.
    3. Click OK.

MORE INFORMATION

If you receive this error message, the text may still be in the correct font. This will occur if the font that is named in the error message is already installed on your computer.
