File and Print Services for Netware does not work as you expect after you upgrade from Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2003 (828257)

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft File and Print Services for Netware does not work as you expect after you upgrade from Microsoft Windows 2000 Server to Microsoft Windows Server 2003.

This problem occurs when all the following conditions are true:

You upgrade from Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server, or Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server.
You have either File and Print Services for Netware 5 or Windows Services for Netware 5.01 (Service Pack 1) installed.
You upgrade to Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition; Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition; or Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition.

CAUSE

File and Print Services for Netware 5 includes the Fpnwsrv.sys driver. This problem occurs because access to Fpnwsrv.sys is blocked during the upgrade process from Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2003.

RESOLUTION

Download and install Windows Services for Netware 5.02 Service Pack 2 (Fpnwsp2.exe).
