You Receive an Error Message When You Try to Insert Clip Art in Your Document (827810)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to insert clip art in your document, you receive the following error message:
Clip Gallery an unspecified error has occurred. Clip Gallery could not complete the operation. Error code 0x80040154.
CAUSEThis problem occurs if the following two conditions are true: - Microsoft Clip Gallery is not registered on the computer correctly.
-and- - The user who is currently logged on to the computer did not log on as the administrator.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, register Clip Gallery.
Note The user who is currently logged on to the computer must be logged on to the computer as an administrator to have the administrator rights to register Clip Gallery on Microsoft Windows XP, on Microsoft Windows 2000, or on Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
Follow these steps to verify that the user account in question has administrative rights for Windows 2000, for Windows Server 2003, or for Windows XP: - Log on to the computer as Administrator.
- Right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
- Under Computer Management, expand Local Users and Groups, and then expand Groups.
- In the right pane, double-click Power Users.
- If the user account in question is not part of the Power Users group, click Add.
- In the Select Users dialog box, type the name of the user account that you want to add, and then click OK.
- Click OK, and then quit Computer Management.
- Log off the computer, and then log on as the user in question.
- Double-click My Computer, and then locate the following folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Artgalry
- Double-click the ARTGALRY.EXE file.
You will receive a message that states that Clip Gallery
has been registered.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
