Markup Command Is Unavailable When You Use Ink Annotations (827718)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
  • the operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Ink Annotation feature in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 on a Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition-based computer, and then you view the presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint 2002, the Markup command to hide and display markup information such as annotations may be unavailable.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when there are only ink annotations in a presentation. PowerPoint 2002 does not see only ink annotations as a markup change.
To work around this behavior in PowerPoint 2002, follow these steps:
  1. Open the presentation in PowerPoint 2002.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Comment
  3. Click anywhere on the slide outside the comment box.
  4. On the View menu, click Markup.

MORE INFORMATION

When you add a blank comment, PowerPoint 2002 enables the Markup command. The Markup command hides or displays all comments, ink annotations, and tracked changes.
