Bold or italic Mtext formatting is not retained when you open and view a CAD drawing in Visio 2003 (827502)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
- Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Office Visio 2003, when you open and view a CAD
drawing (.dwg file) that contains either bold or italic multiline text (Mtext),
the formatting of the text is not retained. The text does not appear with bold
or with italic formatting.CAUSEThis problem occurs because bold and italic formatting in
AUTOCAD Mtext objects is not supported in Visio 2003 when you open and display
a CAD drawing that contains this type of formatting. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, convert the CAD drawing to
Visio format (a .vsd file). When you do so, the text appears with the correct
formatting. To convert a CAD drawing to Visio format, follow these steps:
- Start Visio and open the CAD drawing that you want to
convert.
- Right-click the CAD drawing, point to CAD Drawing
Object,, and then click Convert.
- In the Convert CAD Object dialog box,
click to select the check boxes next to the layers that contain the CAD objects
that you want to convert, and then click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
