"Operation Failed" Message Appears When You Try to Move Users from One Home Server to Another (827481)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Move Users Wizard to try to move users from one Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2003 home server to another, the operation is unsuccessful, and information that is similar to the following appears in the Move Users Wizard:

Live Communications Server Snap-in completed the move operation.

0 operation(s) succeeded.
100 operation(s) failed.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the following conditions exist in the order that is listed:
  1. You start the Live Communications Server tool on one Live Communications Server home server.
  2. A second Live Communications Server home server computer is shut down.
  3. You run the Move Users Wizard to move users from the second home server.
This issue occurs because the Live Communications Server tool does not automatically update the display when the second Live Communications Server home server computer is shut down.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, update the display before you run the Move Users Wizard. To do this, press the F5 key.
