You cannot see the simple 3D Geometry in a computer-aided design (CAD) display object in Visio 2003 (827247)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a file that contains simple 3D geometry in a computer-aided design (CAD) display object, the 3D geometry is not visible in the CAD display object.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Microsoft Visio 2003 does not support the display of simple 3D geometry in CAD display objects.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use AutoCAD to degenerate 3D solids to 3D faces before you try to open the CAD display object in Visio.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
