Cannot Install Oxford English Dictionary with Virtual PC (825356)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Connectix Virtual PC for Mac version 6.0
  • Connectix Virtual PC for Mac version 5.0

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install the Oxford English Dictionary, the installation appears to be successful. However, when you try to start the program, you receive an error message stating that the CD timed out while it was trying to verify that the installed version is licensed and authentic.

RESOLUTION

Virtual PC is not currently compatible with the Oxford English Dictionary. The Oxford English Dictionary is encrypted, and the installation is not successful when you run it through Virtual PC. There is no workaround for this problem.
