Virtual PC Compatibility with Oxford English Dictionary (825338)


The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you try to run Oxford English Dictionary on a virtual machine in any of the products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article, you may receive an error message that is similar to one of the following error messages:
The CD timed out when trying to verify that the installed version is licensed and authentic.
-or-
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Virtual PC for Mac is not compatible with Oxford English Dictionary. There is no workaround for the problem. You can install Oxford English Dictionary on Virtual PC for Mac, but you cannot run it.
