Movie Maker Publish Error: "A Recordable CD Drive Was Not Detected" (824917)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to publish with Movie Maker to a CD-ROM, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following error message:
A recordable CD drive was not detected.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if you use an HP Direct Letter Access (DLA) driver.

RESOLUTION

To resolve the problem, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Click HP DLA, click Remove, and then follow the instructions on your screen to remove the software.
  4. Click Start, and then click My Computer.
  5. Right-click the CD-ROM drive or the DVD-ROM drive, and then click Properties.
  6. On the Recording tab, click to select the Enable CD recording on this drive check box, and then click OK.
