The information in this article applies to:

  • Connectix Virtual PC for Mac version 5.0

SYMPTOMS

You can dynamically size the desktop on a Windows-based virtual machine in Virtual PC. The desktop can be adjusted to arbitrary sizes by adjusting the Virtual PC window from the lower-right corner. When you try to dynamically resize the desktop of a Windows-based virtual machine, you may not be able to resize the desktop, and scroll bars may appear on the sides of the window.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the current Virtual PC Additions are not installed, or if you have not configured the video settings so that they can adapt to the changes that occur on the screen when you resize a window.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Start the virtual machine.
  2. Click the Virtual PC Additions icon, and then click Install Additions.

The Virtual Additions icon is the rightmost icon at the lower-left edge of the virtual machine window.
  3. On the Virtual PC menu, click Preferences.
  4. Click Full Screen Mode, and then click Adjust PC to match Mac.
