MORE INFORMATION

Run the Setup program for AOL and let it select the modem that you have configured to use with Windows in the current virtual machine. After you install AOL, follow these steps to set up the modem so that it works with AOL.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click System.
  3. Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
  4. Expand Ports (click the plus sign [+] that is next to Ports).
  5. Double-click a port, such as COM1.
  6. Click the Port Settings tab, and then click Advanced.
  7. Move the Receive Buffer slider and the Transmit Buffer slider to the left.
  8. Click OK, and then click OK again.
Note If you are using Virtual PC 5.0 or later, make sure that you let the modem dial from Windows if you want to access AOL from Windows. If you dial from the Macintosh computer under Shared Networking, you will be connected to the Internet, but because you are already signed in to AOL on the Macintosh computer, you will not be able to sign in to AOL from the Windows-based virtual machine.
