"Virtual PC Could Not Open Its Emulated Ethernet Switch Driver" Error Message When You Start Virtual PC in Windows XP (824563)

SYMPTOMSWhen you start Virtual PC on a Windows XP-based host computer, you may receive an error message that is similar to the
following error message: Virtual PC could not open its emulated Ethernet switch drive. CAUSEThis issue may occur if Virtual PC Setup did not install the Network Services driver when you ran Virtual PC Setup to install Virtual PC on the host computer. When you run Setup to install Virtual PC on a Windows XP-based computer, a dialog box that contains information about a digital
signature appears. The dialog box prompts you to install the Network Services driver. By default,
the focus is on theStop Installation button in this dialog
box. If you use the keyboard and press ENTER when the dialog box appears
during Setup, Setup does not install the Network Services driver.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, when you run Virtual PC Setup to install Virtual PC on a
host computer, click Yes when you are prompted to install the Network Services driver.
