"Shutdown _Control: No Response Received" Error Message When You Run NETPERF on a Guest PC That Is Running Red Hat Linux 6.1 (824545)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to run the netperf command on a guest PC that is running Red Hat Linux 6.1, you experience the following symptoms:
  • If you run the netperf command with the tcp_rr_script option, you receive the following error message:
    shutdown _control: no response received. errno 4
  • If you run the netperf command with the udp_stream_script option, you receive the following error message:
    shutdown _control: no response received. errno 0

CAUSE

This issue occurs if your guest PC is configured to use the Shared Networking (NAT) networking option.

Note To view the network settings, click the guest PC in Virtual PC, and then click Settings. Click Networking, and then view the network settings in the right pane.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
