Package Source Directory May Revert to the Previous Setting (824496)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Systems Management Server 2.0

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2.0 Administrator Console to change a package's source directory, you may lose this configuration change, and SMS may continue to use the previous package source directory.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you change a package's source directory while SMS Distribution Manager copies files from the previous package source directory to one or more distribution points. When SMS Distribution Manager has completely updated the distribution points with package files, it writes the package source location back to the SMS SQL database and may overwrite a new directory that was recently specified in the SMS Administrator Console.
