FIX: DataView control does not reflect the changes that are made to a computed column (824481)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1

SYMPTOMS

When you bind a DataView control to a parent table, and the parent table has a computed column that refers to a column of child table, you may see that the DataView data does not reflect the changes that are made to the child table value where the expression column of the parent table is built.

For example, if a new row is added to the child table, the child table fires an event to the parent table to notify the parent. However, because of a bug, the parent table does not listen to the events of the child table. Additionally, if you traverse over the expression column of the parent table, and you re-evaluate the expression column but the assignment for the expression column is different, you do not fire an event but you do see a change in value.

The datagrid does not recognize any changes to underlying tables or dataviews. Therefore, the datagrid does not update the grid.
