A Hexadecimal Value May Appear in the WebUI Protocol List (824416)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003
  • Microsoft Server Appliance Kit (SAK), version 3.0

SYMPTOMS

The File-Sharing Protocol list in the Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 WebUI may show hexadecimal values for one of the protocol entries under the Name column.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because one of the following is installed:
  • Services for Netware (SFN)
  • Print and File Sharing for Netware
Windows Storage Server 2003 does not explicitly support Netware in the WebUI. Therefore, Windows Storage Server 2003 cannot correctly identify that protocol entry.

WORKAROUND

After you install Netware, remove the ManagedService_FPNW registry key from the following Registry entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ServerAppliance\ElementManager\WebElementDefinitions\

Removing this registry key prevents the SFN protocol from appearing in the WebUI protocol list:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
