SYMPTOMS
You may not be able to install or run some programs when the program files are located in a shared folder.CAUSE
This issue may occur for various reasons, including (but not limited to) the following:
- The program may not support the option to install or run the program from a shared folder. The same program may not support the option to install or run the program from a network UNC share for similar reasons.
- The program may not be completely compatible with virtual machine (guest PC) technology.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, copy or move the program files to a local drive image on the guest operating system (for example, on the C drive or the D drive of the guest operating system), and then run or install the program from there.
