SYMPTOMSWhen you install Service Pack (SP) 4 on a Windows 2000-based
computer that has DFS Client turned off, you may receive the following stop
error message on a blue screen: Stop 0x0000001E
(0xC0000005, 0xF747AD16, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) Note The parameters may vary. CAUSEThis error occurs because of an issue in Mup.sys, but the
behavior only occurs if DFS Client is turned off. (By default, DFS Client is
turned on in Windows 2000.) This error only occurs if DFS Client is manually
turned off or if another program has turned DFS Client off.CAUSEHotfix InformationA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
