FIX: CD-ROM Media That Have Unsupported File Systems May Not Be Accessible (824247)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.2

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Windows CE .NET Compact Disc File System (CDFS) and Universal Disc File System (UDFS) driver may incorrectly try to mount unsupported volumes that are contained on CD-ROM media.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the UDFS driver does not ignore Secondary Volume Descriptor (SVD) sectors that identify types of unsupported file systems. These types include El Torito boot volumes and Apple Macintosh volumes. The UDFS driver uses the last SVD, regardless of type, instead of using the last supported SVD. Therefore, whether this problem occurs depends on how the CD-ROM was created.

RESOLUTION

Prerequisites

This fix is supported only when all previously issued fixes for this product have also been installed.

Restart Requirement

After you install this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform:
  1. On the Build menu, click Clean.
  2. On the Build menu, click Build Platform.
