AIX passwords expire after you change the password on Windows (824056)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.0
SYMPTOMSWhen
Services for UNIX password synchronization is configured for Windows-to-UNIX
synchronization, the AIX password expires
almost immediately after
you change the password on Windows. CAUSEAIX supports a password expiration field in the /Etc/Passwd
file. The Single Sign On Daemon (SSOD) that is installed on the AIX client sets
the expiration field in days since January 1, 1970. However, AIX interprets the
field as seconds since January 1, 1970. Therefore, AIX sees the password as
expired and locks out the account.RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft,
