Text is not overwritten when you press INSERT in Windows 2000 (823517)

SYMPTOMS
When you use a custom program that is using Rich Edit 2.0 (riched20.dll), you find that the Overtype mode of typing does not work. For example, when you press INSERT, typed characters are inserted before the selected characters.
When you use a custom program that is using Rich Edit 1.0, the Overtype mode of typing does work. For example, when you press INSERT, typed characters replace selected characters.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if you are using a Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) version of Windows 2000. The problem occurs because the Rich Edit 2.0 control does not support Overtype mode.
