FIX: Windows Time Service ignores the local polling interval values in Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP (823456)

SYMPTOMS

If you change the MaxPollInterval and MinPollInterval local polling values for the Microsoft Windows Time service (W32time), the values are ignored and the service always polls at 17 minute intervals.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the client incorrectly uses the polling interval that it receives from the Network Time Protocol (NTP) server.

RESOLUTION
