FIX: BizTalk Adapter for SQL Server Does Not Preserve White Spaces in XML Messages (823164)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the BizTalk Adapter for SQL Server to send an XML message to the computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server, any leading or trailing white spaces in XML elements or attributes are lost.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Note Because of file dependencies, the most recent hotfix or feature that contains these files may also contain additional files.


To install this hotfix, follow these steps:
  1. Install the hotfix that is in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

    813205 FIX: BizTalk Server Does Not Preserve White Space in XML Documents

  2. Replace the AICSQL.dll file with the file in this hotfix.
  3. Create a DWORD registry value PreserveWhiteSpace under the following registry key, and then set its value to 1:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\BizTalk Adapter for SQL Server

  4. Restart the BizTalk Messaging Service.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
