SUMMARY

This article discusses a documentation error that appears on the New subscription page of SharePoint Portal Server when you subscribe to a folder in the Document Library.

MORE INFORMATION

When you subscribe to a folder in the Document Library, SharePoint Portal Server generates a notification when documents in the folder change. SharePoint Portal Server does not generate a notification when a subfolder is created in the folder that you subscribe to.

When you click Subscribe in the Document Library to subscribe to a folder, the following text appears on the New subscription page:You can request to be notified when documents in the folder change. You will also be notified of changes to documents in subfolders, as well as the creation of new subfolders. Subscription notifications are automatically displayed in the portal. If you provide an e-mail address, you will be notified by e-mail as well. The text incorrectly states that you receive a notification when a subfolder is created in a folder that you subscribe to. The following text contains the correct information: You can request to be notified when documents in the folder change. You will also be notified of changes to documents in subfolders. Subscription notifications are automatically displayed in the portal. If you provide an e-mail address, you will be notified by e-mail as well.
