This article describes how to disable the Visual Browser in Microsoft Encarta Reference Library 2004. By default, the Visual Browser is enabled and appears when you start Encarta Reference Library. Disabling the browser may increase the performance of Encarta Reference Library.

To disable the Visual Browser, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click to select the Disable Visual Browser on Homescreen check box, and then click OK.
  3. Quit Microsoft Encarta Reference Library 2004, and then restart your computer.
