Animations that include a sound file do not play in Encarta if no sound card is installed (822762)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to play an animated file that includes a sound file in the Microsoft Encarta Reference Library 2004, the Play button may be unavailable (dimmed).CAUSEThis issue may occur if no sound card is installed on your computer. Animation files that include a sound file require a sound card. Many other features and files of Microsoft Encarta 2004 may also be unavailable if you do not have a sound card installed.WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, install a sound card on your computer or use Encarta 2004 on a computer where a sound card is installed.MORE INFORMATIONThis issue may also occur in Microsoft Encarta 2003 with some animation files. In Encarta 2003, some of the animations changed format,
leading to the current file format. Some of the animations that could play in 2003 were still using the older format.
All animations in Encarta 2004 use the newer, streaming audio format that requires the presence of a
sound card.
