"A Runtime Error has occurred" error message when you view Web pages in Internet Explorer after you install Office 2003 (822521)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Office 2003, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following when you view Web pages in Microsoft Internet Explorer:
Error
A Runtime Error has occurred.
Do you wish to Debug?
Line: line number
Error: nature of script error
You were not prompted to debug Web pages before you installed Office 2003.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur after you install Office 2003, if the Web Debugging feature was selected for installation. If you select Web Debugging during the Office 2003 installation, the Disable script debugging check box in Internet Explorer is cleared.

Note The Web Debugging feature of Office 2003 is available as an option on the Advanced Configuration page of the Microsoft Office Setup, and is located as a subcomponent of Office Tools, HTML Source Editing, and Web Scripting.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, you must reconfigure the Internet Explorer script debugging options. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.

  2. In the Open box, type Iexplore.exe , and then click OK.

  3. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

  4. In the Internet Options dialog box, click Advanced.

  5. Click to select the Disable script debugging check boxes.

  6. Click to clear the Display a notification about every script error check box.

  7. Click OK.
