When you paste a table from a Web page to OneNote it displays as a single column in OneNote 2003 (822513)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office OneNote 2003
- Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, Service Pack 1 (SP1)
SYMPTOMSWhen you copy a table from a Web page and paste it in
Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, the table may paste as a single column of
text. Note This problem may occur regardless of the paste option that you
select when you paste the table. For example, this problem may occur if you
select any of the following from the Paste Options icon:
- Keep Source Formatting
- Match Destination Formatting
- Keep Text Only
CAUSEThis problem occurs because OneNote does not retain typical
HTML table formatting. By design, OneNote uses horizontal Outline Levels to
simulate a table structure.
For more information about table structures in OneNote
2003, click Microsoft Office OneNote Help on the Help menu, type create a table structure in the Search for box in the Assistance pane, and then click Start searching to view the topic.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem and retain table column
positioning, paste the table in a Microsoft Office Word document, and then copy
and paste the table from Word to OneNote. To do this, follow these steps:
- Select and copy the table that you want from the Web
page.
- Start Word.
- In a new blank document, click Paste on
the Edit menu.
- Select the table in your new blank document.
To
do this, follow these steps:
- Click inside the table.
- On the Table menu, point to
Select, and then click Table.
- On the Edit menu, click
Copy.
- Start OneNote.
- On the OneNote page that you want, click
Paste on the Edit menu.
