To turn off ClearType for Word 2003 Reading Layout mode, follow these steps: WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. - Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Locate the following registry key, and then click the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Options - Right-click the right window pane, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type NoClearTypeNW as the name of the new registry key, and then press ENTER.
- Double-click the new NoClearTypeNW key, type a value of 1 to deactivate the ClearType technology, and then click OK.
Note A value of 0 is the same as a null entry, and this value will activate the ClearType technology. - Quit Registry Editor.
