Icons for certain file types are missing in the Search Companion window after you run a program in full-screen mode on a Windows XP-based computer (822432)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional
SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario:
- On a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, you use the Search Companion to find certain file types. For example, you search for ".scr" to find screensaver files.
- You run a program that uses full-screen mode. For example, you run a program such as a screensaver, Microsoft Windows Media Player, or Microsoft 3D Pinball for Windows in full-screen mode.
- You exit the program, and then you switch back to the Search Companion window.
In this scenario, the icons for certain file types are missing in the Search Companion window. For example, if you searched for .scr files, no icons appear to the left of the screensaver file names that are listed in the Search Companion window.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because certain types of image icons are not updated in the Search Companion window after you exit a program that uses full-screen mode.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
