Money: "Active Payee Already Exists on Database 12300" Error Message (822398)

SYMPTOMSWhen you send an Electronic Payment (Epay) or when you set up an Automatic Payment (Apay) in Microsoft Money to pay a bill, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following: Active payee already exists on database 12300 CAUSEThis behavior may occur if a payee with the same name already exists in Money.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this behavior, cancel the Apay or Epay, create a new payee with a different name, and then set up a new Apay or Epay with the payee that you created. To cancel the Apay or Epay and create a new payee, follow these steps: - Cancel the Apay or the Epay (as appropriate).

- Delete the duplicate payee. To do so, follow these steps:
- On the Accounts & Bills menu, click Categories & Payees.
- In the left pane, click Payees.
- In the list of payees, click the payee that you want to delete, and then click Delete.
- When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
- Create a new payee. To do so, follow these steps:
- On the Accounts & Bills menu, click Categories & Payees.
- In the left pane, click Payees.
- At the bottom of the Set up your payees page, click New.
- In the Name box, type the name of the payee, and then click OK.
- To record more information about the payee that you created (such as address and phone number), click the payee, and then at the bottom of the page, click Go to Payee.
- Type the information that you want to add in the appropriate boxes.
Note If you have more than one account with a payee and you want to differentiate between these accounts when you pay your bills, you can add additional information about the payee in curly brackets "{}" at the beginning or at the end of the payee's name. For example, to distinguish between utilities bills for a rental property that you own and your own home, use Electric Company {rental house} and Electric Company {my house} as payee names.
