"STOP 0x50 Error in WIN32K.SYS" error message when you try to start MKS Secure Shell Service in Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 SP6 (822338)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start MKS Secure Shell Service from MKS, Inc., you may receive the following error message:
STOP 0x0000050 in WIN32K.SYS
This problem is caused by pool corruption. Pool corruption occurs when the MKS Secure Shell does not successfully create a desktop or does not successfully create a Windows Station. Note Not all services require a Windows Station. MKS Secure Shell is a service that creates a Windows Station during startup.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
