You Receive Incorrect Results When You Search For an Item in the Web Site Source Code (822267)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you search for an item in the source code of your Web site, the search may return an incorrect number for the times that the item appears in some the Web pages.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the Web pages in your Web site contain navigation bars or shared borders. When you search through the Web site source code, the whole document is parsed, including comments and Web bots. Navigation bars and shared borders expand the HTML code only when they are opened. Because of this, a search in Web site source code may return an inaccurate number of results where Web pages are not opened.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, open all the Web pages in the Web site before you search through the source code.
