You receive a form submission exceeded the maximum length error message when you upload a file to your Windows SharePoint Services Web site (822059)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to upload a file to your Windows SharePoint Services Web site using the Windows SharePoint Service object model, you may receive the following error message:
Unhandled Exception: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: The form submission cannot be processed because it exceeded the maximum length allowed by the Web administrator. Please resubmit the form with less data.

CAUSE

This problem occurs the file is larger than the maximum file size for an upload. The maximum file size is configured in the Web.config file.

For example, your Web administrator may have set a maximum file size of 50 megabytes (MB)for uploads. To do this, the administrator uses the following tag in the Web.config file:

<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="51200" />

RESOLUTION

To upload larger files, ask your Web administrator to change the maxRequestLength parameter of the <httpRuntime> section in the Web.config file to a larger value.
