Items on the Authentication Tab of a Network Adapter Dialog Box Appear in English on a Multilingual Edition of Windows 2000 (821560)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP4
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server SP4

SYMPTOMS

When you click the Authentication tab in the properties dialog box of a network adapter on a Windows 2000-based computer with the Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) installed, the items on that tab appear in English instead of in the language that you expect.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if both of the following conditions are true:
  • The computer is running Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4).

    -and-
  • You view the properties of a wireless network adapter.
This issue occurs because the resources to display the items on the Authentication tab of the wireless network adapter dialog box are defined by the Wzcdlg.rc file instead of by the multilingual Sp3res.dll file. Because these resources are defined outside Sp3res.dll, the items on the Authentication tab are displayed in English.
